Industry BS Index

The Industry BS Index is a real-time measure of corporate non-communication across professional sectors. Every text submitted to the BS Detector contributes to the index — anonymously, continuously, and without any human curation. The result is a live dataset of how much different industries say without actually saying anything.

Each submission is scored across 10 categories of linguistic bullshit — Synergy Fluff, Fake Urgency, Responsibility Fog, Metric Abuse, Startup Dialect, Virtue Signalling, Padding & Filler, Confidence–Evidence Gap, AI Writing Fingerprint, and Euphemism Body Count — and the results are aggregated by detected genre. The index updates in real time as new submissions arrive. No editorial judgment is applied. The AI scores the text. The numbers speak.

Why does this matter? Because bullshit has a cost. When corporate communications consistently obscure meaning behind jargon, accountability disappears. When press releases say nothing with great confidence, investors, employees, and the public make decisions based on noise. When political statements achieve a BSI of 83%, the gap between what is said and what is meant is not just a stylistic problem — it is a civic one. The Industry BS Index does not fix this. It does, at minimum, measure it.

Submissions are only attributed to genre breakdowns — they are never displayed publicly unless the user explicitly opts in to the leaderboard. The index reflects aggregate patterns, not individual authors. The data is what it is. Make of it what you will.
